"If no one helps those left behind, then I will." - Bogdan.
We met Bogdan in Kramatorsk, a city less than 15 km from the frontline. That day, we saw him returning from yet another evacuation mission: a mud-covered Ford Focus, loaded with bags and even an old bicycle, carrying three exhausted elderly people.
Bogdan is someone like you or me, who decided to do something. Before the war, he taught martial arts. Now he gets up before sunrise, digs graves to earn a living, and spends the rest of the day evacuating civilians from the frontline villages—with his own car.
Many of those who remain are elderly and deeply attached to their homes. They will only leave when the danger becomes unbearable. Bogdan drives to places where most people don't dare to go. When we asked him why he takes such risks to help others, his answer was simple: "If I can do it, then I have to do it. I love my region and the people here. I am strong enough to help. So I help."
We want to continue to stand by Bogdan: paying for fuel, supplying medical supplies, purchasing a bulletproof van, and keeping him safe with the resources he needs. You can also save lives.
